Learning About Solar Eclipses In-Person

This presentation looks at the history of solar eclipse observations, eclipse observational techniques, and addresses the science of eclipses. The presentation also discusses the April 2024 total solar eclipse whose path crosses Illinois. Presented by Jim Plaxco, President of the Chicago Society for Space Studies and serves as the National Space Society's Space Ambassador Program Economics SME. 

 Jim is also a NASA JPL Solar System Ambassador and previously served as President of the Northern Illinois Space Advocacy and as a Vice President for both the National Space Society and the Planetary Studies Foundation. He most recently served as the Director of Information Systems for the National Space Society.  As a digital artist, Jim has judged space art contests for NASA, NSS, EIS, and the IAA, and was project manager for the Enterprise in Space
